With Hollywood being a few hours’ drive from the north, Vegas is the perfect place for VIP’s to kick back, let their hair down and spend some of their vast wealth.
One such example is Sir Elton John, who had a one year residency at the MGM Grand hotel and casino. His complimentary VIP penthouse suite alone would cost an ordinary person five thousand dollars per night. His cut flower bill alone is said to have set the hotel back four thousand dollars over the course of a year.
In addition to this pampering, he was paid ten million dollars, but is said to have netted the hotel twice that in ticket sales.
VIP Sylvester Stallone doesn’t have the ability to attract full houses each night, yet always has a free VIP penthouse suite on-hand at the Luxor casino just in case he drops into town.
Even Arnold ‘the Governator’ Schwarzenegger swings into town with his wife, when California’s deficits and forest fires get too much for him. It is often one will see the VIP at Harrah’s casino, while his wife spends his hard earned cash in Las Vegas’ many boudoirs and precincts.
The simple fact is this: Las Vegas relies on its VIP’s. Imagine the strip without Tom Jones or the MGM without Celine Dion? Though many would see this as a real improvement, it is all part of Las Vegas’ glitz and glamour.
Las Vegas is like a fine pizza: it would be nothing without an abundance of cheese.
